Ultralight Backpacking

thumb1 Ultralight BackpackingBackpacking, being the combination between camping and hiking, two very popular outdoor activities, require backpackers to travel light as they possibly could, keeping in mind what backpackers would have to face during a backpacking excursion.

With its now ever growing popularity, ultralight backpacking gear types are readily available for backpackers, professionals or not. Ultralight backpacking gear types are basically specialized backpacking gear, ensuring three essential elements: lightweight equipment which are both functional and durable as well.

With an ultralight backpacking system loaded on a backpackers back, the whole backpacking trip would be easier, leaving backpackers to focus on having more fun. Movement is easy, and all that a backpacker carries would have true functions which are of value outdoors.

Most ultralight backpacking would weigh less than 16 lbs, with most traditional packs weighing 35 50 lbs, traditionally with a weekends worth of water and food. An ultralight backpack is notorious for being so light, most backpackers forget that they carry with them a tent, highlighting the whole simple walk in the woods concept of backpacking. Bringing a heavier pack, wouldn’t yield to such results, leaving one in an ordeal to simply get the whole backpacking adventure over and done with.

Here are some of the most common gears that make up an ultralight backpacking system.

Ultralight Backpacks

Made from light durable fabrics, ultralight backpacks are simply ultralight backpacks, weighing lesser than traditional outdoor packs, but still boasting the same features. Most ultralight backpacks could carry up to 200 lbs of weight, ideal for week-long backpacking trips.

With most backpacking excursions programmed for weekends, ultralight backpacks are ideal packs, as they serve a multifunctional purpose, useful for short or long backpacking adventures.

LED Flashlights

Brighter and physically lighter than traditional flashlights, LED flashlights are among the most common items one could find in an ultralight backpacking system. Certain LED flashlight types are known to be small enough to be fitted into a jungle survival knife, or a cigarette lighter, still functioning perfectly as flashlights, requiring only a little power source.

Garbage Bags

Garbage bags could be commonly found in an ultralight backpacking system, because of the various uses they could be employed for. Garbage bags could be used as a stuff sack, for separating wet or dry clothing, as a rain poncho, a tarp, a backpack cover, an ash bucket, as a bandage, a tent ground cloth, a dry bag, and, as a garbage bag.

Lightweight, durable, multifunctional, they arent surprising to see in an ultralight backpacking list of items.

With these three being the most common ultralight backpacking gear types, other ultralight backpacking gears include ultralight pots and stoves, as well as tents and sleeping bags. These three gear types are simply the most commonly found in ultralight backpacking systems.
